How we started
I, Stephanie, started my soap making journey when I took a class in 1999. My oldest daughter was only a toddler at the time. So, I was uneasy about making soap at home, due to using lye--sodium hydroxide. Safety is very important when creating my soaps!
Living in the city, we purchased various types of soap at health food stores. So we were very familiar with good quality soap! When we moved to my great grandparents' farm in Northeastern Colorado, our skin felt miserable due to the hard water in the country.
Because our daughters were older, I felt comfortable resuming my soap making ventures. We also thought we could handle having milking goats at some point. The soap came before the goats though! I decided to try it once again and made a couple of batches for Christmas gifts. I had rave reviews and was asked if I would be interested in selling it. Pretty soon, here came the goats and my goat's milk soap journey began.
Thus---the beginning of Prairie Fields Goat Milk Soap company!!
